MATH 3301 – DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

 

Textbook: Dennis G. Zill, A First Course in Differential equations with Modeling Applications, 9th edition, Thomson – Brooks/ Cole, ISBN-10: 0495108243, ISBN-13: 9780495108245.

 

Catalog description: Ordinary differential equations are introduced with emphasis on methods of solving of first order equations, homogeneous and nonhomogeneous linear equations, and systems of linear equations. Power series solutions of some linear equations, Laplace transform techniques, and elementary applications are also covered.

 

Prerequisite: A grade of C or higher in MATH 2401 and MATH 2402. Credit or enrolment in MATH 2307 is recommended.

 

Grading policy:

HW 10% of the grade

Three exams, each 20% of the grade

Final exam 25% of the grade

Project 5% of the grade

A=90-100,  B=80-89,  C=70-79,  D=60-69,  F=0-59

 

Office hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:30-3:30pm

 

Help: There will be short reviews before each exam. You are encouraged to ask questions in class and to study with your classmates. Additional help is available at the Lab in 735S (9am - 7pm on Mondays through Thursdays, 9am - 3pm on Fridays).
